The Young Feminism Lab is our newest program, inspired by the leadership, dreams, and requests from our girl-participants.

The Young Feminism Lab, is for hard-working graduates of past SERniña/SERlideresa programs who show a fierce commitment to their own empowerment, and advancing gender equity. Participants are young women ages 14 to 18 from rural villages such as El Hato, Jocotenango, Santa Ana, La Guardianía, and San Felipe in Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. Thanks to their in-depth journey, they arrive at the Lab with the curiosity, strength, and awareness needed to explore feminism through their own lived experiences, understand the power dynamics that shape their lives, and become active agents of change in their communities.

Unlike our other programs which happen within partner schools, the Young Feminism Lab takes place at the SERniña Central office where girls from all partner communities come together twice-per-month for full-day intensive sessions to learn, grow, and lead together.

This program is girl-led as the curriculum is co-created alongside the girls based on the needs, goals, and interests they identify.

The program is also very diverse, as it not only includes workshops, but also includes inspiring women guest speakers, planning and executing community events, as well as educational and inspiring field trips and outings.

During this program, the girls also receive more one-on-one support in their academic and professional pathways.

Just like all our programs, all participants also have access to our violence prevention and response programs and sexual health programs.
